Privacy Policy

This policy explains what QuizzyApp collects, why, who we share it with, and how you can get it removed. It covers the QuizzyApp website at quizzyapp.net and the QuizzyApp apps for Android and iOS.

1. Who we are

QuizzyApp is a quiz and competition platform where people create, play and share timed quizzes. In this policy, "we", "us" and "QuizzyApp" mean the operators of quizzyapp.net. You can reach us at support@quizzyapp.net.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

• Account details — your email address and username. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information from Google instead of a password.
• Profile information — anything you choose to add, such as a display name or profile photo.
• Content you create — quizzes, questions, answers, explanations, collections, competition details and any images you upload.
• Messages — posts you send in study circles.
• Notes you submit to the AI features — text, files or links you provide when generating a quiz or summary from notes.

Information created as you use QuizzyApp

• Play data — quizzes you play, answers you give, scores, times, XP, streaks, and the topics you find difficult.
• Social data — study circles you join, referrals, and your position on leaderboards.
• Purchase records — which plan you bought, when it renews or expires, and the payment reference. See section 4 for what we deliberately do not store.
• Technical data — device and browser type, approximate region, and a session identifier used to keep one account signed in on one device at a time.
• Exam-integrity signals — during a timed attempt in a browser we record events such as leaving fullscreen, switching tabs, or attempting to copy or paste. These are recorded against that attempt so results stay fair. We do not read your clipboard or the contents of any other tab.

Information stored on your device

We keep a local cache on your device so the app works offline and starts quickly. This holds your profile, downloaded quizzes and pending actions waiting to sync. Clearing the app's storage, or uninstalling it, removes this cache.

3. Why we use it

4. Payments

Payments are processed by Paystack. Card numbers, CVVs, bank credentials and one-time codes are entered on Paystack's own systems and are never sent to or stored by QuizzyApp. We receive only a transaction reference, the amount, the status, and — for recurring plans — a subscription code we use to renew or cancel. Paystack handles that data under its own privacy policy.

5. Advertising

QuizzyApp is free to use and is funded partly by advertising. We use Google AdMob in the Android and iOS apps and Google AdSense on the website. These services may set cookies or use device advertising identifiers to select and measure ads, and to limit how often you see the same one.

• On iOS we ask for your permission before any tracking identifier is used, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Declining does not reduce your access to any feature.
• In regions that require it, we show Google's consent form before personalised ads are served.
• You can review and change Google's use of your data at adssettings.google.com.

6. AI features

When you use a feature that turns notes into a quiz or summary, explains an answer, or recommends quizzes, the text you submitted is sent to Groq, which runs the language model that produces the result. Send only material you are comfortable sharing, and do not paste other people's confidential information. We do not use your notes to train any model of our own.

7. Who else sees your data

• Supabase — hosts our database, authentication and file storage.
• Vercel — serves the website.
• Paystack — processes payments.
• Google — AdMob and AdSense advertising, and Google Sign-In if you use it.
• Groq — processes the AI features described above.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as described here, or where we are legally required to.

What other users can see

Your username, profile photo, quizzes you publish, and your standing on public leaderboards are visible to other users. Your email address, payment records and answers to individual questions are not.

8. How long we keep it

• Account and content — until you delete your account.
• Play history and results — until you delete your account, since it is what your progress and XP are calculated from.
• Payment records — retained after account deletion where we are required to keep financial records.
• Notes submitted to AI features — processed to produce your result and not retained as a separate archive.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it. You can also object to how we use it, or withdraw consent you have given. To delete your account and data, follow the steps at Delete your account, or email support@quizzyapp.net. We respond within 30 days.

Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Children

QuizzyApp is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will remove it. Where a school or teacher uses QuizzyApp with students, the school is responsible for obtaining any consent the law requires.

11. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to the database is restricted by row-level security rules so accounts can only read their own private data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.

12. International transfers

Our providers operate globally, so your data may be processed outside your country. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place for international transfers.

13. Changes

If we make a material change to this policy we will update the date at the top and, where the change significantly affects you, tell you in the app.
